What is a sub-unit in TofuPilot?
Updated July 7, 2026
A sub-unit is a child unit assembled into a parent unit, such as a PCB inside a finished product. A parent unit can reference multiple sub-units by their child serial numbers, enabling full genealogy tracking of nested components like PCBs, batteries, and enclosures. This lets you trace which components went into which assembly, aligning with MES genealogy records and IPC-1782 traceability.
